Tenise Marie is a Canadian singer-songwriter, who has emerged from the mystical forests of Argenta, BC. With her talent for vulnerable and disarming lyrics, she builds her songs with vision and care, singing “tenderly of love’s vagaries without lapsing into maudlin or cliché" (Jamie Bliss, Kootenay Mountain Culture Magazine).

A multi-instrumentalist, accompanying soulful vocals with acoustic guitar and oud, Tenise crafts a unique blend of western and eastern folk music, reflective of her own mixed European and Assyrian heritage. “Watching Marie perform is an emotional experience...coming of age, falling in love, and exploring the world are just the surface level of inspiration in Marie’s pieces” (Olivia Herring, Music Mecca).

Tenise's most recent work has been her Research & Creation project with the Canada Council for the Arts, during which she travelled to Northern Iraq, and after returning to Canada, performed a series of concerts entitled "Argenta to Atra", featuring performances of Assyrian folk songs, as well as original songs inspired by her trip to the Assyrian homeland.
